Former EA executive joins Oculus Rift To Lead Publishing

Oculus Rift is undoubtedly one of the most exciting pieces of technology for 2014, and could have a serious impact on the way we play games in the future.

But convincing developers to get on board with any radical piece of technology is understandably difficult, and Oculus Rift announced last week that it has hired former EA vice president David De Martini to take the helm of its new publishing drive…

With his previous work at EA Partners, De Martini worked on the Crysis series and on Titanfall, among numerous other big titles.

According to the Oculus blog, “David will be leading Oculus’s publishing initiative, providing Oculus developers additional resources to help them achieve their vision. This means new opportunities for key developers for direct support from Oculus, and ultimately, more great content on the Oculus platform.”

“What I'm doing at Oculus, it's not particularly different from what I did for seven years at EA as part of the EA Partners program. I'm figuring out how to partner effectively with big developers, small developers, all the way down to the individual who just wants to make something great for the Rift,” DeMartini stated during an interview.

What do you think of having an EA exec at Oculus Rift? Are gamer concerns legitimate, or should we just give him a chance to prove himself at Oculus Rift?
