If your'e have watched/read the Need For Speed: Rivals reviews before , there some give it a high score and some flagged its as a bad game. For me, I think this game is not bad yet it is not that good either. The need for speed had its ups and downs over the years, but in recent times it has really found its feet.Need for Speed Rivals was developed by the new (Need for Speed dedicated) studio Ghost Games, with support from racing powerhouse Criterion Studios - the brains behind Burnout Paradise - and boy does it show.
This is great news for gamers who are interested in a racer that takes itself less seriously than the more conservative Forza Motorsport and Gran Turismo series, for example, and as a result Rivals will appeal to motorheads and casual racers alike.
The freeform nature of racing is Rivals' greatest strength, but also its greatest weakness. Players wanting a more traditional driving experience won't find it in Rivals--even when playing offline. While the campaign offers structure, it can become repetitive when taken out of context of a dynamic online world. And as a Racer, you're going to be chased by a lot of Cops. In fact, just driving around the world always increases your "Heat" meter, guaranteeing that you'll be chased over time. You could do leisure drives around the world as a Cop, but your objectives typically don't veer into traditional racing territory.
I also did encounter some significant frame-rate and lag issues on occasion, possibly depending on who I was connected to as host, which made the game crawl at one stage for over a minute, which makes me wonder if the experience might be better on next-gen consoles.I would give this game 7 out of 10
